Corundum: Edged and Versatile

Sharp, Hard, Versatile – SWARCOBLAST Corundum at a Glance

The product catalogue of SWARCOBLAST blasting media includes a whole range of high-grade corundum. Corundum is a mineral and part of the oxide and hydroxide mineral class. Chemically speaking, it belongs to the family of aluminium oxides. Given their hardness, different varieties of corundum are used as abrasives and blasting media in industrial applications.

SWARCOBLAST corundum is available in several variants: normal corundum, high-grade corundum white, high-grade corundum pink and blasting corundum. Normal corundum and high-grade corundum white are synthetic fine blasting media made from aluminium oxide. High-grade corundum pink is produced from crystalline aluminium oxide melted from alumina in an electric arc.

Blasting corundum, on the other hand, is generated as a by-product of normal corundum production. It contains mineral and metallic components. While the high-grade corundum types are used for highly specialised processes, blasting corundum is more suitable for applications without elevated requirements.

Sharp Edges for Precise Results

SWARCOBLAST blasting corundum is characterised by its hardness and sharp-edged structure. It is suitable for injection and pressure blasting processes. Depending on the type, it is used in a variety of industrial fields: for cleaning, deburring and roughening of metallic surfaces, in the processing of aerospace components as well as in dental and laboratory technology.
