With over five decades of experience and continuous research and development activities at the Center of Competence for Glass Technology in Amstetten, Austria, SWARCO has always been the front runner, setting new standards in the glass bead industry.

Both internally and in its solutions, SWARCO has a long-standing commitment to quality and environmental protection. The raw materials used for SWARCO micro glass beads are subject to EU guidelines on chemicals and hazardous substances and comply with the REACH regulation and the RoHS directive.
For an external verification of the quality and environmental focus of its work, SWARCO Indusferica uses an ISO 9001 certified quality management system.
The certification gives clients the certainty that they can count on quality in the long run.

Our
Story
1969
Manfred Swarovski founds a glass bead factory in Austria and later expands production to include road marking materials and services.
1986
SWARCO enters the traffic light systems business and takes its first steps in the field of intelligent transport systems (ITS) by acquiring the Futurit-Werke in Austria.
2000
SWARCO opens a new production facility for traffic lights and traffic management systems (TMS) in Austria and becomes the world’s largest traffic light manufacturer. We pass the 1 billion Austrian schilling revenue threshold.
2003
SWARCO enters the traffic management market by acquiring the Peek companies in Scandinavia.
2014
Revenue exceeds 500 million euros. SWARCO expands in the UK by acquiring the APT Group.
2016
SWARCO enters the US market for intelligent transport systems (ITS) by acquiring McCain in Vista, California.
2020
SWARCO Advanced Industry Systems becomes SWARCO Indusferica, a dedicated brand for industrial glass beads, to allow the company to grow further in this segment. SWARCO has always offered industrial glass beads, complementing its reflective glass beads for road markings.
2021
The Dynniq Mobility Group in the Netherlands, the Hitex Group in the UK and Supalux in Australia become part of the SWARCO family.
2022
The SWARCO Global Glass Beads Technology Center is inaugurated in Austria and the new MEGALUX-BEADS production facility opens in the United States. Revenue exceeds the 1 billion euro threshold for the first time in November 2022.
